Job Summary
KBR is seeking an Associate Mechanical Engineer to join our team and reside at our Las Cruces, NM office. The selected candidate will support projects around ground-based mobile satellite communication systems, antenna manufacturing, and radio frequency engineering. The Associate Mechanical Engineer will research, develop, plan, design, and integrate mechanical products and systems. Applies principles and techniques of mechanical engineering to complete engineering projects and solve engineering problems in all phases of design, development, integration/implementation, and analysis, testing and participating in design reviews and evaluations.
Roles and Responsibilities
Research, design, modify, develop and evaluate systems, products, components, and applications by applying fundamental mechanical engineering principles
Understand basic principles for evaluating stress, strain, thermal management, mechanics of materials, and other subjects from undergraduate academics
Validate vendor equipment performance, quality, and capabilities by developing testing methods, performing tests, and documenting test results
Conduct and evaluate final system performance through execution of test procedures and data analysis
Will lead projects to completion by developing schedules to ensure technical performance is met and within cost
May perform site surveys and field installations under the supervision of a senior engineer
Communicate and collaborate with other engineering disciplines, manufacturing personnel, management, vendors, customers, and subcontractors.
Prepare engineering documentation, i.e., drawings, project specifications, procedures, test data and results
Abide by company policies, procedures, and AS9100 quality policy
Must hold a valid drivers license and have the ability to obtain a US Top Secret security clearance
Basic Qualifications
Bachelors Degree in Mechanical and/or Aerospace Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university
0-2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
Must be a U.S. citizen
Must hold a valid drivers license and have the ability to obtain a US Top Secret security clearance
Preferred Qualifications
Basic experience using Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) software such as Autodesk Inventor
Graduate with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00
Ability to work independently and in a cross functional team
Basic knowledge and understanding of project management
