The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training and internal pay comparison. Position Type Full-Time/Regular
Reporting to the Director of Academic Development, the Assistant Director provides high-quality academic advising to a dedicated caseload of Questrom residential Full-Time and Part-Time MBA students. This role leads student-facing advising sessions and events, supports registration and other registrar-related processes, and oversees planning and execution of large-scale programs and co-curricular events in collaboration with the MBA Center team - including MBA LAUNCH (orientation).
Job Function 1:
Student Advising (65%)
The primary responsibility of this role is to provide exceptional academic advising for an assigned student caseload of approximately 300 students enrolled in the Full-Time and Part-Time MBA programs: Counseling students on their degree requirements.
Maintaining an up-to-date familiarity with curriculum, course schedules and recommending course selections to students based on their career goals and interests.
Communicating with students when there are scheduling or curricular changes, assisting students who fall out of compliance with the university Lead and facilitate registration information sessions, webinars, and open advising hours.
Advising students on satisfactory academic performance (G.P.A.) and integrity issues Supporting identified students of concern.
Connecting students with school and university resources Assessing non-Questrom coursework requests for degree credit Serve as the first point of contact for all student questions regarding school, university, and community resources for non-academic counseling needs as well as university requirements.
Job Function 2:
Signature & Co Curricular Program Support (20%)
Each Assistant Director is responsible for additional secondary responsibilities.
While not exhaustive, examples of these secondary responsibilities are listed below:
Serve as liaison to MBA specialty programs, attending program development committee meetings and reporting back to the team with program updates.
Co-lead the planning and execution of MBA LAUNCH (orientation) in collaboration with stakeholders across Questrom Plan and execute an assigned caseload of events related to academic milestones and program engagement.
Support and attend co-curricular and signature events (e.g. Global Immersion; Admitted Student Open House; other late night, evening, and weekend programming on a periodic basis)
Job Function 3:
Advising Operations (15%)
In addition to direct student advising, the Assistant Director is responsible for maintaining and updating MBA student records: Conduct ongoing review of student graduation applications.
Register students for core coursework and other specialized program requirements.
Collaborate with Questrom Registrar's Office for student records issues.
Other systems and records management as needed.
Required Skills
B.A./B. S required., Master's Degree in related field strongly preferred, and two to four years of experience in counseling, student services or higher education administration. Strong oral and written communication skills, highly organized and the ability to multitask. Prior event planning experience preferred. Some evening hours and occasional weekend work required.
