Tax Technology & Transformation Senior Manager
The senior manager will lead the execution of key initiatives that advance the Tax Technology & Transformation strategy within the US Firms Tax ("USFT") organization. This role is responsible for driving strategy-to-execution across workpaper redesign and standardization, workflow modernization, automation and controls, and scaling AI capabilities with quality and risk guardrails integrated with the broader US Firms technology and transformation strategy. The senior manager will also provide independent, objective review of Deloitte Tax Technology Consulting's ("TTC") proposals and key initiatives, ensuring alignment to USFT priorities, disciplined governance, and measurable practitioner impact.

Work you'll do
Own the delivery of critical roadmap initiatives
Define the multi-year transformation vision, business case, sequencing, and measurable outcomes and lead end-to-end design and implementation for one or more priority programs (workpapers, workflow, automation, AI enablement)
Translate annual objectives into a delivery plan with clear milestones, dependencies, stage gates, and benefits trackin
Lead the USFT Tax Technology & Transformation team
Manage and develop the team responsible for end-to-end solution design and implementation
Establish clear roles, handoffs, and responsibilities between the team and the Deloitte Tax Technologies team
Run program governance
Drive intake, prioritization, change control, risk management, and release readiness across assigned initiatives
Produce executive-ready status reporting for USFT leadership and governance forums
Establish tax data governance (definitions, ownership, quality controls, lineage) and embed controls into redesigned processes
Serve as an independent, objective reviewer
Review TTC proposals and USFT tax technology innovations for strategic fit, value case, operational feasibility, risks/controls, and integration impact
Offer critical assessments and recommendations regarding project viability (go/no-go), implementation sequencing, establishment of operational guardrails, and allocation of resources
Lead Operations Transformation (beyond "tech projects")
Drive process improvement, standard work, SME engagement, handoffs, and operating rhythm changes that optimize tax delivery holistically
Ensure technology implementations are paired with adoption, training, and process/control updates
Run a portfolio of initiatives (e.g., standardization, shared services, managed services, workflow automation, data lake/warehouse integration, provision/compliance tooling)
Track KPIs (cycle time, cost, quality, risk, satisfaction), report progress to senior stakeholders, and course-correct
Partner across the organization
Coordinate with TTC SMEs and Enterprise Solutions teams (platform, architecture, data, security, integration) to manage interdependencies and avoid duplication
Evaluate and manage technology and vendors/implementation partners as applicable (plans, deliverables, quality, and performance)
The Team
Deloitte Services LP includes internal support areas such as Finance and Administration, Talent, Information Technology, Marketing and Communications, and Facilities Management. This Tax Technology & Transformation Director role is part of our internal US Firms Tax ("USFT") team which is a subset of our Finance and Administration group. The USFT team is responsible for setting the tax policy for the Deloitte US Firms in the US and other countries where it has operations, as well as for all the domestic and foreign compliance for the Deloitte US Firms' entities.
Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Taxation or Information Technology
Seven (7)+ years experience leading technology-enabled transformation programs in complex, matrixed environments
Strong understanding of tax delivery operations and practitioner workflows (workpapers and end-to-end processes)
Familiarity with product/program operating models and scaled delivery methods
Background in process improvement / operational excellence methods
Experience with tax tools (e.g., ONESOURCE Income Tax) or ERP systems (e.g., SAP)
Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders, drive decisions/trade-offs, and lead through ambiguity
People leadership experience (coaching, performance management, team development)
The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $118,700 to $243,700
You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
